Premier League champions Manchester City are reportedly the ‘more advanced’ of potential suitors in the race for Bayern Munich and Germany superstar Jamal Musiala.

The rising, versatile attacking midfield talent is widely regarded as being the next big name to emerge onto the European scene, having developed through the Southampton and Chelsea youth academies before making a switch to Germany.

Since first joining Bayern Munich’s senior set-up as a teenager in 2020, Jamal Musiala has claimed a staggering four Bundesliga titles, whilst also winning the DFL-Supercup on three occasions, as well as UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup titles.

But after 43 goals and 30 assists across his 159 senior Bayern Munich appearances, Musiala could be set for his next step in his top-level professional career, especially given the names reported to be interested in his signature.

Amid doubts over Manchester City’s current midfield talents and their respective futures, including the likes of Bernardo Silva and Kalvin Phillips, a new report has linked the club with a move for the Bundesliga starlet.

That is according to the information of the Independent’s Miguel Delaney, who reports that Manchester City are now considering a move for Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala this summer, with their interest of ‘more advanced’ than major European rivals.

It is detailed that given Musiala’s contract runs until 2026, the player has so far shown ‘little inclination to extend or improve’ his deal, and there is now a belief among other clubs that he may be ‘buyable’ this year or next, with Manchester City the ‘most interested’.

Manchester City hierarchy reportedly want to specifically improve attacking areas this summer, and want two players who can ‘fluidly play in a few areas’ of the forward line. As well as Musiala, the reports details City are also interested in Lucas Paqueta and Michael Olise.

But who could Manchester City have to compete with for the 21-year-old’s signature? The Independent reports that Liverpool, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain are among other clubs looking at the talent, but all have ‘different budget constraints’.

With regards to the aforementioned Paqueta, Manchester City retracted from what many believe to have been a done deal last summer following the emergence of an FA investigation into gambling allegations around the Brazilian.

However, the feeling remains that should those investigations be dropped without any further sanctions, then Manchester City would move with intent to secure the player, who in turn is understood to remain interested in a move to the Etihad Stadium.

As for Michael Olise, the Crystal Palace talent emerged as a possible candidate to join City towards the end of the last summer transfer window, with Etihad bosses ultimately turning to Matheus Nunes from Wolves and signing the Portuguese midfielder on deadline day.
