Footage on social media has show on-loan Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips to be involved in an X-rated post-match incident with West Ham supporters.

The 28-year-old quit Manchester City for West Ham United during the January transfer window, moving to the London Stadium for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign after making just six starts since signing for the Sky Blues in July 2022.

The Englishman completed a loan move to east London amid particular concern for his place within Gareth Southgate’s England squad ahead of this summer’s European Championship in Germany.

Despite winning the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and Emirates FA Cup during his debut season at Manchester City, Phillips made just 31 appearances over an 18-month spell with Pep Guardiola’s squad.

Phillips chose to move to West Ham during the January transfer window, with David Moyes signing the midfielder despite interest from a host of other Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United and Fulham.

The midfielder has made seven Premier League appearances for West Ham, including featuring from the bench in Saturday’s dramatic 4-3 loss to Newcastle United at St James’ Park, where the Hammers led 3-1.

The 28-year-old conceded a penalty during the loss on Tyneside, with Phillips having also been sent off against Nottingham Forest during his loan spell with West Ham in February.

Footage on social media following Saturday’s West Ham loss to Newcastle showed Phillips to be involved in a furious outburst upon retuning to the first-team bus, where the England midfielder was seen sticking his middle finger up at supporters.

Phillips, who was boarding the bus when the incident occurred, was reacting to supporters, one of which shouted “useless” at the direction of the Englishman.

The 28-year-olds future beyond the current season is subject to doubt, and the likelihood of a permanent move to the London Stadium could be impacted by Saturday’s X-rated incident.

Phillips is one of two current first-team loanee’s who could be sold by Manchester City this summer, with Joao Cancelo expected to permanently depart the club following successive loan spells.
