Jack Grealish uploads 10-photo Instagram post revealing ‘lonely’ recovery journey from groin injury
Manchester City supporters were offered a behind-the-scenes look into Jack Grealish’s ‘lonely’ journey recovering from his latest groin injury setback.
The England international forward has been taking his time in recovering from a second successive groin problem during the second-half of the campaign, having first sustained the issue against FC Copenhagen in UEFA Champions League action.
Grealish was left out of successive Pep Guardiola starting line-ups during the opening weeks of the new calendar year, and eventually fought his way back into the manager’s thinking for the European last-16 first-leg in the Danish capital.
However, the former Aston Villa captain was replaced inside the opening 25 minutes owing to a muscular problem, and ruling him out of action for a further period of time. Returning much faster that some expected, Grealish returned to the line-up against Luton in the FA Cup.
Much like events in Copenhagen however, Jack Grealish was once again forced off the field of play with a similar problem, leaving the player visibly distraught by the setback. Manchester City took the decision to grant him extended leave to sufficiently recover.
Revealing an insight into his recovery process at the City Football Academy, Jack Grealish has now uploaded a 10-photo Instagram post taking followers behind-the-scenes ahead of his long-awaited return to action in the coming days.
Alongside activities including swimming, muscular treatment, gym work, and on-the-ball sessions at the City Football Academy, Grealish captioned his post, “Lonely month working my way back.”
Jack Grealish returned to Manchester City’s matchday squad roster against Newcastle United in the FA Cup quarter-finals – the last game Pep Guardiola’s side embarked on prior to the now-ongoing international break.
The England international played no part in the contest, instead leaving the match-winning antics to Bernardo Silva, as the Portugal international scored a brace to send his club into the final-four of the competition.
Grealish will almost certainly have his eyes set on making a return to the field of play for Manchester City’s next competitive outing, as the Premier League champions host Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium in a mammoth top-flight encounter at the end of the month.
