Manchester City troll former £42.5 million academy star with cryptic Phil Foden social media post
Manchester City have issued a cryptic social media post of Phil Foden following Sunday’s Carabao Cup Final between Liverpool and Chelsea.
Phil Foden, who scored the winning goal during Manchester City’s Premier League victory over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday evening, was pictured in a cryotherapy chamber as part of the Englishman’s post-match recovery.
Manchester City are back in action against Luton Town in the Emirates FA Cup on Tuesday evening at Kenilworth Road, with the 23-year-old having scored in the Blues’ previous three away matches.
Foden has netted against Brentford, FC Copenhagen and Bournemouth for Pep Guardiola’s side, with the Englishman having scored his 16th goal of the campaign during the 1-0 win over the Cherries last weekend.
The boyhood Blue has been in immense form for City this campaign, stepping up in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne, who missed five-months of the season due to a hamstring injury which required surgery.
The 23-year-old has won 16 trophies and made 256 appearances for Manchester City to date, having made his debut in 2017 against Feyenoord in the UEFA Champions League.
An image of Foden on Sunday afternoon by Manchester City’s official account on X, has been widely accused of trolling former teammate Cole Palmer, who left the Etihad Stadium for Chelsea in a £42.5 million Deadline Day transfer in September.
The cryptic post and caption of three cold shivering emoji’s was posted within 20 minutes of Chelsea suffering defeat to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup Final, with Virgil Van Djik’s extra-time header inflicting a damning defeat on the west London club.
Supporters have accused City of trolling Palmer with the post, with the 21-year-old having started the fixture at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Palmer did score against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge in November and also started the recent 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium, with Rodri cancelling out Raheem Sterling’s first-half goal.
Foden has won the League Cup with Manchester City on four previous occasions, and was named Man of the Match in the Final against Aston Villa in 2020.
