Manchester United have one player capable of playing for Manchester City on a regular basis, according to one report revealing the ‘private admission’ of Pep Guardiola.

The latest link between the two bitter city rivals comes at a time when off-the-field boardroom changes at Old Trafford have brought about connections to the hugely successful operation over at Manchester City.

Just last month, United confirmed the recruitment of Manchester City chief Omar Berrada to take up the role of CEO at Old Trafford, while former City academy director Jason Wilcox is also being eyed for a senior position on the red side of the city divide.

But it has been a long time since a first-team player has made a switch between the two clubs, with Carlos Tevez’s move to Manchester City in 2009 being the most notable and notorious change that marked a shift in power between the teams.

Now however, a claim of a private admission from Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola could indicate an interest from the part of the Etihad coach to cause chaos in the transfer market by recruiting from Erik ten Hag’s men.

That is according to the information of Football Insider, who state that Pep Guardiola has ‘privately admitted’ that England superstar Marcus Rashford is the only Manchester United player ‘good enough to play regularly’ at the Etihad Stadium.

The report claims that Guardiola rates Marcus Rashford’s talent and playing style ‘very highly’, to the extent that he would ‘thrive’ in his all-conquering Manchester City squad that claimed the Treble last season.

Football Insider go on to claim that Pep Guardiola believes Manchester United’s other first-team stars ‘do not have the capability to be a key player in his system’ at Manchester City. However, he also reportedly holds doubts over Rashford’s combination play.

Marcus Rashford could be at the centre of a transfer battle in the summer market away from any Manchester City interest however, especially following the announcement made by Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe.

The Frenchman has confirmed his desire to leave Paris on a free transfer, and the expectation is that he would complete a move to Real Madrid, opening up a gap in the PSG squad for a new superstar attacker.

Reports have already suggested that PSG could turn to Marcus Rashford, while the England international’s off-the-field struggles and criticism over body language this season could entice him to take up a new opportunity abroad.
