Pep Guardiola appears likely to sign a new 12-month contract extension with Manchester City, a new report has revealed in recent days.

Conversation surrounding the legendary Etihad Stadium boss intensifies with every passing week, as reports in mainstream media continue to be absent of information regarding positivity over Guardiola’s longer-term future.

With Pep Guardiola into his eighth season at Manchester City, having won 16 trophies in the process, some are beginning to wonder whether the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss would complete a decade with the club or cut his time just short of the landmark.

However, Manchester City supporters will almost certainly be left buoyed by the latest revelations from sources closer to those within the football club, who have expressed insight into the current mood around Pep Guardiola.

That is according to recent information from Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X, who has recently claimed that those close to Pep Guardiola now believe that the Catalan coach will commit to a fresh contract extension at the Etihad Stadium.

“Close aides of Pep (Guardiola) had insisted he would leave at the end of his current contract,” the source stated on X, referring to the 53-year-old’s existing deal which is due to expire at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

“However, they now believe he will commit to another 12 month (contract) extension and complete a decade at the Etihad (Stadium),” the post continued. “Said to be open to an annual rolling review which both sides would be comfortable with.”

Guardiola and his Manchester City players continue to be in the midst of another hugely promising campaign, after establishing remarkable heights during the previous season when they claimed a historic Treble only previously achieved by rivals United in 1999.

City have already claimed the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup this season, and now hold a 1-3 advantage over FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League last-16, with an FA Cup fifth round tie against Luton Town and huge Premier League fixtures on the horizon.

The reigning Premier League champions return to action in the English top-flight this weekend, when they welcome Chelsea to the Etihad Stadium as they look to retain their position alongside Liverpool and Arsenal in a trophy challenge at the top of the division.
