Premier League champions Manchester City are involved in a wider City Football Group plan concerning Las Palmas central defender Mika Mármol, according to reports.

The versatile 2001-born defender, who can also operate in the left-back role, originally started his career with FC Barcelona in 2006, leaving the Camp Nou club just two years later to continue his development in the academies of UFB Jàbac Terrassa and CF Damm.

In June 2018, Mármol returned to Barcelona and was promoted into the Catalan giants’ B-team in 2020 before making a first-team and La Liga debut in May 2022 as part of a 0-0 draw away to Getafe CF.

Following a short one-year spell with FC Andorra, Mármol made his move to his current side Las Palmas last summer with the club newly-promoted into Spain’s top-flight, but his biggest move yet as part of a meteoric rise could come in the next few months.

That is according to the information of journalist Jose Alvarez, speaking to El Chiringuito, who reports that the City Football Group are keen on the signing of Las Palmas’ highly-rated central defensive talent Mika Mármol.

It is explained that the 22-year-old would be bought by Manchester City, before being loaned out to the City Group’s La Liga side Girona, as they continue a staggering rise in competing for the Spanish top-flight title this season.

Across the course of the ongoing La Liga season, the young defender has registered 21 appearances in Spain’s top division, keeping a commendable six clean sheets in the process as Las Palmas find themselves in 9th position.

Girona remain engaged in a dramatic title battle with giants of the division Real Madrid, and clash with Carlo Ancelotti’s side this weekend in a contest that will see the City Group side marred by suspensions, including that of their manager Míchel.
