Pep Guardiola sends rallying six-word message ahead of defining Tottenham clash
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has described Tuesday’s Premier League trip to Tottenham as the “most important” match of the campaign.
The Catalan’s side continue their pursuit of a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title on Tuesday evening, with the opportunity to move two points clear of Arsenal with a win over Tottenham in north London.
Manchester City, who are winless in the Premier League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, can remain in control of their own destiny with a victory in midweek.
The Sky Blues are unbeaten since early December across all competitions, and beat Fulham 0-4 at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon to take another step towards the title.
Josko Gvardiol continued his recent goalscoring form with a brace, meanwhile both Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez were also on the scoresheet during the win in west London.
Manchester City return to the capital on Tuesday evening, with the potential to retain two of last season’s trophies with three wins from their remaining three matches of the campaign.
The Cityzens face Tottenham and West Ham in the Premier League prior to an Emirates FA Cup Final clash against Manchester United at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 25th May.
Pep Guardiola has described Tuesday’s clash against Tottenham as the ‘most important’ of the Blues’ season however, with Manchester City having not won away at Spurs in the Premier League since October 2018.
“We are ready to do it,” said the 53-year-old.
“The most important game of the season, I would say or argue this like that, it’s just one game, like we cannot prepare because still we are recovering from the game against Fulham.
“But we are used to playing in these kind of situations and this kind of preparation, and we are ready.“
Manchester City could have both Jack Grealish and Nathan Ake available for the clash, with the Englishman having missed Saturday’s win over Fulham due to illness, and Ake suffering a first-half injury.
Grealish scored against Spurs at the Etihad Stadium in December, netting during a 3-3 draw, after Dejan Kulusevski’s injury-time header.
