Manchester City midfielder trains with Stockport County as decision on future to be made today
Stockport County have welcomed Manchester City midfielder Kian Breckin to training this week, with a decision on the player’s future to be made today, according to reports.
The 20-year-old had been placed on a season-long loan agreement with Wycombe Wanderers during the previous summer transfer window, however a severe lack of opportunities and concerns over treatment forced City into an early recall this month.
The Premier League champions have weighed up their options for the player intensely, and at one stage appeared to favour a move closer to home for Breckin, and a decision on the player’s second-half of the season is likely to come today.
That decision will follow a significant step forward in the possible destinations for Kian Breckin, having spent time training with one possible club who have maintained interest in the player throughout the ongoing market.
That is according to the information of Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X, who reports that Kian Breckin has trained with EFL League Two side Stockport County in recent days, while a decision on his next loan destination from Manchester City will be made today.
Stockport however are not alone in their admiration and interest in the services of the highly-rated Manchester City prospect, with the report also naming Notts County and Crewe as potential suitors that remain keen on the player.
Kian Breckin has progressed through Manchester City’s Academy age-groups since first joining the club back in 2015, and playing a key role in both the 2020/21 and 2021/22 Under-18 Premier League title winning seasons.
The attacking midfielder is seen as being comfortable at receiving the ball in tight areas, and his capabilities on the ball saw a progression into City’s Elite Development Squad during the previous 2022/23 campaign before being viewed as a talent ready for senior football.
