The agent of Manchester City star Erling Haaland has issued a clear message over a release clause in his Etihad Stadium contract, speaking during an interview in Italy.
The latest comments come at a time when Etihad Stadium officials have become increasingly intent on rewarding Haaland for his exceptional and transformational start to life at the club through the form of a new and improved contractual agreement.
However, with such a conversation comes the subject of additional clauses and bonuses, and likely the matter of a release clause, should either party show an intent to agree on such a matter during meetings.
It was reported in October that it was ‘likely’ that a potential release clause would be discussed, with two initially added into his first deal at the club – one of which was dependant on Pep Guardiola’s future before he signed a new deal in Autumn last year.
Now the player’s agent has offered a fresh take on the subject of a release clause, admitting that should both parties want a ‘peaceful future’ then they will have to ‘face one another’ on the matter.
Rafaela Pimenta opened her conversation regarding Erling Haaland finances by clarifying previous comments that appeared to suggest the Norwegian international could one day command a staggering £1 billion transfer fee.
“In any case, with Erling (Haaland), I wasn’t just referring to his price, but to everything that revolves around him: clubs, sponsors, jerseys. Certainly, Haaland’s path will reach these figures.”
Rafaela Pimenta continued on to the subject of a release clause for Erling Haaland at Manchester City – a topic of conversation that has been disputed and reported widely since his arrival at the club in the summer of 2022.
“As for the clause, it’s a way for clubs to say, ‘I decide’,” she explained. “However, I believe that if we want a peaceful future, we have to face one another.”
Erling Haaland is having yet another stand-out season for Manchester City, in a campaign that will only entice the Premier League champions further in their desire to renew and improve his contract with the club.
Across Haaland’s 20 appearances in the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Community Shield, and UEFA Super Cup, the Norway international has scored a remarkable 19 goals providing a further four assists.
