Manchester City have received an approach from Saudi-Arabian club Al-Hilal for first-choice goalkeeper Ederson, as per reports in Brazil.

The 30-year-old was in net for the treble winners as Pep Guardiola’s men clinched glory in the UEFA Super Cup on penalties against Sevilla in Greece on Wednesday evening.

After an underwhelming debut campaign for Claudio Bravo in Guardiola’s first season at the Etihad Stadium, City signed Ederson for £35 million from Benfica in the summer of 2017.

His ball-playing ability has since made Ederson an indispensable cog in Guardiola’s squad, being a mainstay between the sticks for the European champions since his arrival in Manchester.

City began their league title defence with a 3-0 beating of Burnley last week before collecting their fourth trophy of the calendar year in Athens on Wednesday.

The Blues have been busy in the transfer market and are expected to make an addition each in midfield and attack before the window closes next month.

As per Fred Caldeira of TNT Sports Brazil, Manchester City receive an approach from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal for Ederson, who has three years left on his current deal at the Etihad Stadium.

Negotiations are not believed to have advanced with City or the Brazil international, who is irreplaceable for the unique style of football Guardiola has engrained within his first-team squad since 2017.

Bayern Munich are interested in City’s second-choice goalkeeper Stefan Ortega but it is unlikely that Guardiola will sanction a sale this late in the transfer window in a key position for the Premier League champions.
