This week is expected to be significant with regards to arrivals, departures, and contracts at Manchester City, as Etihad officials look to finalise summer business.

Txiki Begiristain and his colleagues working in the transfer department within the City Football Academy offices are set to formalise interest in Stade Rennais winger Jeremy Doku – who is viewed by those at the club as a successor to Riyad Mahrez.

The Algeria became the second major departure from the club this summer, following the path taken by Ilkay Gundogan through the exit door, but not to be accompanied by Kyle Walker, despite intense interest from Bayern Munich.

Here is everything you need to know and catch-up on from day 58 of the ongoing summer transfer window at Manchester City.

Arrivals

Rennes will demand a fee of around £47 million if Manchester City firm up their interest in Jeremy Doku. The Ligue 1 club are unlikely to let the forward leave without a fight, but know the player is keen on a move to City. (Martin Blackburn, The Sun)

David Moyes: “We wouldn’t want Lucas (Paqueta) to go. But I also understand if you were in his position. Sometimes it’s quite difficult to say to these boys, ‘Sorry, you can’t join Manchester City or Real Madrid,’ they are two of the biggest clubs in the world…” (The Athletic)

Rennes manager, Bruno Génésio on Jeremy Doku: “It all depends on the offer. There are offers that are difficult to refuse in football. For the moment, we’re not there. I have no information. He’s a Stade Rennais player. Until proven otherwise, he’s usable…” (RMC Sport)

Lucas Paqueta speaking in June, 2023: “I don’t intend to leave (West Ham) but it’s clear that we dream of playing since we were little; Real Madrid, Manchester City, Barcelona, these bigger clubs we dream of playing (for)…” (Pod Delas, The Athletic)

David Moyes on West Ham’s valuation of Lucas Paqueta: “I don’t want to go there… There’s a price on everybody’s head. We’ve had news on Lucas, but not anything to make our heads wobble. When you’re on a journey to try to become better, sometimes you lose your best.

“We’ve seen it happen. We’re on a journey to improve and get to the top but Lucas is fantastic and I can see why many top teams would be after him. I’ve got to make sure I keep a good harmony in the squad, harmony in the club and that things are done correctly.

“Maybe a different circumstance with Harry Kane but there’s a price on everybody’s head somewhere. We’ve seen people go to Saudi, clubs saying we wouldn’t want these players to go but they’re going because they’re getting whatever they want…” (The Athletic)

Departures

Sheffield United are still waiting on Manchester City deciding on whether James McAtee can move on loan this summer or if they could take Tommy Doyle back on the same basis. (Alan Nixon)

Contract Renewals
