Manchester City interested in signing key Champions League Final opponent amid Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva uncertainty

Nicolò Barella has emerged as a potential midfield target for Manchester City, who face Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League Final this Saturday.

The Premier League champions meet the Italian giants for the first time this weekend, as Manchester City bid to complete the treble and win the UEFA Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.

Pep Guardiola’s side have already won the Premier League and FA Cup this season, and travel to Istanbul looking win the Champions League just two years after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea in the 2021 final.

Saturday’s final could be Manchester City midfield duo Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva’s last appearance’s for the Blues; with Bernardo linked with a potential move to Paris Saint-Germain and Gundogan yet to sign a new deal at the Etihad Stadium despite his contract expiring this summer.

The potential departure of both midfielders would likely force Manchester City to make new signings in central midfield this summer, however Jude Bellingham has agreed a deal with Real Madrid and Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister is poised to complete a move to Liverpool.

Inter Milan’s Nicolò Barella, who will come up against Manchester City this weekend, is reportedly a player the Blues could look to sign this summer, according to Sport Mediaset.

Sport Witness relay that Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the Italian, and that City could even talk with the midfielder after Saturday’s UEFA Champions League Final.

The 26 year-old has 13 direct involvements in 35 Serie A appearances this season and has also scored three goals in the UEFA Champions League.

Inter Milan are claimed to be ‘reluctant’ to lose the midfielder this summer, however a ‘mind-boggling offer’ from Manchester City could test the resolve of the Italian side.

City have previously signed players following impressive performances against the Blues in the Champions League, with both Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy moving to the Etihad Stadium in 2017 from AS Monaco.
