Revealed: How eight Manchester City stars want their names to be pronounced at UEFA Champions League Final

UEFA have published a unique guide to pronouncing the names of eight Manchester City players, ahead of Saturday’s Champions League Final in Istanbul.

Manchester City are bidding to complete the treble and win the UEFA Champions League for the first time in the club’s history this weekend, when the Blues face Inter Milan in the 2023 Final on Saturday evening.

Pep Guardiola’s side have already won both the Premier League and FA Cup this season, and could become the first English side since Manchester United in 1999 to also win the Champions League.

City have successfully overcome European heavyweights Bayern Munich and Real Madrid on route to the Champions League Final, dismantling both the German and Spanish giants at the Etihad Stadium with thumping victories.

The Blues beat Bayern Munich 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium in the quarter-final first-leg and shocked Real Madrid with an emphatic 4-0 second-leg victory in the semi-finals.

Bernardo Silva scored twice against Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium last month after Kevin De Bruyne’s powerful drive cancelled out Vinicius JR’s opening goal in the first-leg at the Santiago Bernabéu.

City face Inter Milan in Saturday’s final in Istanbul, after the Italian side beat rivals AC Milan in the semi-finals in May.

Manchester City will come up against former player Edin Dzeko, with the striker having made 189 appearances for the Blues between 2011 and 2015.

The 37 year-old scored the vital equalising goal against QPR in 2012, as Manchester City famously won their first Premier League title.

Prior to Saturday’s Champions League Final, UEFA have published a pronunciation guide for commentators, with eight Manchester City players named on the list, posted online by Gary Taphouse.

Correct pronunciations for Nathan Ake, Kevin De Bruyne, Ruben Dias, Ederson, Ilkay Gundogan, Erling Haaland, Aymeric Laporte and Riyad Mahrez are included in the list.
