Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed a major team news decision for Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup Final against Manchester United at Wembley Stadium.

City are looking to win their second trophy of the season on Saturday, as they bid to become the first team since opponents Manchester United in 1999 to win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in the same season.

Pep Guardiola’s side clinched their fifth Premier League title in six years last month, and face Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League Final in Istanbul on Saturday 10th June.

Manchester City, who are hopeful of lifting the FA Cup trophy for the first time since 2019, reached the final after a Riyad Mahrez hat-trick against Sheffield United in the semi-finals.

Stefan Ortega started the semi-final victory in April and has featured in all five FA Cup fixtures for Manchester City this season, keeping clean sheets in all matches.

City overcame both Chelsea and Arsenal in the earlier rounds of competition, as well as wins over Bristol City and Burnley.

Ortega joined Manchester City on a free transfer last summer and as well as featuring in the FA Cup, had made appearances in the Premier League, Champions League and League Cup.

The German was in net for the Blues’ 1-0 win over Chelsea in the Premier League last month and also started the 1-1 draw with Brighton at the AMEX Stadium.

Ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium, Pep Guardiola revealed that Ortega would start ahead of Ederson this weekend.

“Yeah he’s going to play. It’s always been the same in the cups, even with Barcelona and Munich, so he’s going to play in the FA Cup,” said the City manager on Friday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola came under fire last season for starting Zack Steffen against Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-finals, as City collapsed to defeat and the American goalkeeper made a series of mistakes.

However, in 2019, Ederson started the 6-0 win over Watford at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup Final.
