New claims from Germany have suggested that Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez is among the transfer targets at Bayern Munich this summer.

The Argentine forward took what was already a sensational last 12 months to another level over the weekend, after he was crowned a Premier League champion just months after winning the FIFA World Cup with his country in Qatar.

There remains the opportunity for Julian Alvarez to take his trophy haul to an even greater level in the coming weeks too, with Manchester City taking on an FA Cup final against rivals Manchester United, and a Champions League final against Inter in Istanbul.

However, this summer may provide a dilemma for the young Argentina international, with one of Europe’s most prominent clubs circling for his signature as Erling Haaland continues to dominate the starting berth under Pep Guardiola.

According to the information of Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Julian Alvarez is on the transfer targets list of Bayern Munich, while the Bundesliga giants have made an enquiry over the forward’s possible availability in the coming months.

It is reminded that Alvarez is not a regular starter at Manchester City, often sitting behind Erling Haaland in Pep Guardiola’s striker pecking order, and as such his future at the Etihad Stadium is described as ‘uncertain’.

That is despite Julian Alvarez having only recently further extended his City contract upon winning the World Cup with Argentina in December, taking him through to the end of the 2027/28 season at the very earliest.

Manchester City are unlikely to entertain any offers for permanent deals for their star forward this summer, and the possibility of a season-long loan offer is also unlikely to tempt them given the high-regard in which Alvarez is held by coaches at the club.

Despite recording just 22 starts for Manchester City across all competitions this season, Julian Alvarez has notched a very commendable 17 goals and provided a further four assists from a variety of positions in Pep Guardiola’s squad.

The Catalan coach has often looked into ways of incorporating Alvarez into the same starting line-up as Erling Haaland, moving the 23 year-old onto the right-wing, starting him in an advanced midfield role alongside the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, as well as placing him directly in-behind the Norwegian himself.
