Defending Premier League champions Manchester City have confirmed a contract renewal with Korean company NEXEN TIRE.

City first entered into a partnership with the automobile giants in 2015, with the latest extension confirming a continuation to a deal that has already been in place over a time when the club have won four Premier League titles among 12 major trophies.

Four years ago, the aforementioned deal made history when Manchester City became the first club in the Premier League to confirm a shirt sleeve sponsor – a landmark initiative that is set to come to an end, it has been confirmed.

While NEXEN TIRE will continue to sponsor Manchester City – who are closing in on their third successive Premier League title, the brand’s name will no longer be present on the sleeve of the club’s home shirt from next season.

It has been confirmed that the company wishes to create a holistic brand image as part of its renewed contract with Manchester City. With a freshly introduced, “We Got You” approach in the brand, NEXEN TIRE will commit to supporting fans and partners.

As per the official press release on Manchester City’s website, the deal between both parties will see the title sponsor focus on digital activations, creative content and increased localisation for priority markets.”

The announcement also carried comments from City Football Group CEO Ferran Soriano, who labeled NEXEN TIRE as ‘part of the family’, and celebrated the partnership that has seen mutual success. The City chief also thanked the brand for their commitment to the club.

“NEXEN TIRE has been part of the City family for a long time, and this new extension will take us to more than a decade of partnership,” Soriano said. “We have shared and enjoyed historic and very successful moments, celebrating 12 trophies together.”

“We want to thank NEXEN for their continued commitment, support and inspiration and we are looking forward to working together throughout the next term, for more innovation and celebrations.”

NEXEN TIRE has high hopes for the collaboration, as the company is determined to strengthen its partnership with Manchester City as it approaches the decade mark.

Since the brand’s name will no longer feature on the sleeves beyond the end of this season, it will be interesting to see if Manchester City will find a different sponsor as a replacement, with a number of notable existing partners interested in the slot.
