Manchester City advanced to the 2023 Emirates FA Cup Final with a victory over Sheffield United at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola’s side remain on course to win a potential treble after a hat-trick from Riyad Mahrez.

The Algerian gave City the lead in the 42nd minute from the penalty spot before a brilliant individual run doubled the Blues’ lead.

Mahrez became the first player to score a hat-trick in an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley in the 65th minute with low finish after a Jack Grealish cross.

City will return to Wembley Stadium on Saturday 3rd June, where they will face either Manchester United or Brighton in the FA Cup Final.

Here’s how we rated the players from Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final triumph.

Stefan Ortega – 7

Another impressive performance from the German goalkeeper, who looked confident on the ball and made a crucial save in the 2nd minute from close range.

Kyle Walker – 6.5

A slick return to the starting side for Walker, with the Englishman offering some brilliant bursts of pace when attacking and continually quick to nullify counter-attacks by the Blades.

Manuel Akanji – 6

Akanji continues to excel at centre-back. Defended well and was once again confident when in possession.

Aymeric Laporte – 6

Stellar from the Spain international, although a performance which failed to stake a claim to be selected ahead of Ruben Dias or John Stones in midweek.

Sergio Gomez – 6

Another juxtaposed display. The left-back looked good going forward but question marks remain regarding his defensive capabilities, with Gomez easily beatable and often caught out.

Ilkay Gundogan – 6.5

Metronomic in the deeper midfield role.

Bernardo Silva – 7

An energetic performance from Bernardo Silva, who also won the penalty late in the first-half.

Jack Grealish – 7

Continuous smart work out wide and an assist for the third goal.

Riyad Mahrez – 9 (MOTM)

A sensational semi-final hat-trick for the Algerian! Despite some woeful deep corners, Mahrez was magnificent; cooly slotting home a penalty and scoring a brilliant solo goal after a slaloming run.

Erling Haaland – 6

A quiet afternoon for Haaland although some neat intricate play when dropping deep into the midfield.

Julian Alvarez – 6.5

An exciting display from the Argentine who looked dangerous throughout and offered a continuous threat.

Substitutes:

Cole Palmer – 6.5

Confident cameo coupled with some lively darting runs.

Phil Foden – 6.5

A huge boost to see the Englishman return from surgery.

Rico Lewis – N/A

Kalvin Phillips – N/A
