Manchester City have received an indication from Erling Haaland’s representatives ahead of talks over a new deal for the Norwegian, according to a report.

The 22 year-old striker has registered a total of 37 appearances for the club across all competitions so far this season, scoring a staggering 42 goals in the process, accompanied by a further five assists.

That takes him up to 47 goal contributions for the season upon breaking up for the March international break, which is nearly double the second-most achieved by any other Manchester City player, with Kevin De Bruyne totalling 25 himself.

Now, Manchester City are keen to show their appreciation for Erling Haaland’s outrageous output so far this season, by offering to sit down with the player and his representatives to negotiate new and improved terms, while also extending his contract further.

According to a new report from Phil Thomas of The Sun, Manchester City are now ready to make Erling Haaland the Premier League’s outright top earner, and subsequently kill off any talk of a summer move to Real Madrid.

Talks over such a move will take place at the end of the season, according to the report, with City officials having their eyes set on a renewed deal that would take Haaland’s pay package up to £500,000-per-week.

Sources close to Erling Haaland have reportedly insisted that the Norway international is ‘entirely happy’ in Manchester, but City are keen to send a firm ‘hands off’ message through the form of a new and improved contract.

As for any indications from Erling Haaland’s camp ahead of any contractual negotiations, The Sun report that those around the Norwegian ‘have given indications’ that they are keen to hold talks and Manchester City themselves are convinced he will follow Julian Alvarez’s decision.

The Argentine international recently put pen to paper on a one year extension, following a stellar start to his own Manchester City career after only joining the club last summer – the same time as Erling Haaland.

The extension of Alvarez’s contract means he is now one of three players to be tied down to the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2028, standing alongside fellow Argentina international Maximo Perrone, and England star Kalvin Phillips.

As for Erling Haaland, he is currently on a deal until the summer of 2027, alongside all of Joao Cancelo, Jack Grealish, Ruben Dias, Rodri, Phil Foden, and fellow summer recruit and former Borussia Dortmund teammate, Manuel Akanji.
