Manchester City target Maximo Perrone has already signed his contract with the Premier League champions, according to a new report.

The 20-year-old Argentina midfielder has been recently linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium after a bright start to the season at Velez Sarsfield.

City secured the arrival of Julian Alvarez on the final day of last year’s January transfer window, with the World Cup winner joining up with Pep Guardiola’s squad at the start of the season.

The reigning English champion have again entered the mid-season market and are edging closer to adding Maximo Perrone to their star-studded ranks.

Wolves, Newcastle and Manchester United have also been linked with the Argentina U-20 wonderkid, who is reported to have a release clause worth €8 million in his contract at Velez Sarsfield.

Perrone has amassed 33 appearances for Velez and emerged as one of the brightest talents in South America this term.

According to the information of César Luis Merlo, Perrone has signed his contract running until June 2028 with Manchester City.

The midfielder is expected to complete a move to Manchester City next month after featuring in the U-20 South American Youth Football Championship.

Should he make the route directly to the first-team, Perrone could add further depth in the number six position, already boasting Rodri and Kalvin Phillips.

Pep Guardiola’s men bounced back from a disappointing derby loss to Manchester United with a comeback 4-2 triumph at home against Tottenham on Thursday evening.

The Blues host Wolves on Sunday afternoon as they look to keep pushing leaders Arsenal, who welcome high-flying Manchester United to the Emirates Stadium later that evening.
