Premier League champions Manchester City are monitoring the progress and performances of highly-rated Napoli forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, according to reports.

Kvaratskhelia made the move to Naples just last summer, signing for the Serie A giants for a fee in the region of €10 million – €12 million, and very quickly establishing himself as one of the brightest wide forwards across Europe.

In 20 appearances across all competitions so far this season for Napoli, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has scored nine goals and complimented by a further 12 assists – providing a goal contribution every 70.1 minutes for the club.

Fellow countryman and former Manchester City star Georgi Kinkladze is also understood to be a hero of Georgia’s latest breakthrough star, with those facts perhaps offering supporters extra hope in regards to the possibility of the Napoli icon following such footsteps.

Now, according to the information of the Mail, Manchester City are ‘monitoring’ Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

No further details are provided on the level of monitoring or the intensity of any such interest from officials at the Etihad Stadium, but it should come as no surprise given the requirement for a new winger at the club – as highlighted by supporters on several occasions.

However, speaking during a recent interview, the agent of the 21 year-old – Mamuka Dzhugeli was asked about the possibility of a switch to the Etihad Stadium to which he responded, “I don’t have any papers on my desk, and I suppose neither in Napoli’s office.”

Dzhugeli was also pressed on an asking price for the services of the forward, but remained tight-lipped on the subject. “That’s the last thing we’re thinking about right now,” he said as translated and relayed by Sport Witness.

Elsewhere, Manchester City are expected to open discussions with the representatives of Julian Alvarez in the coming months, as Etihad officials look to reward the Argentine for his start to life at the club with an improved contract.

There is a feeling in some quarters that following Alvarez’s FIFA World Cup win in Qatar, and his struggles for game time due to the presence of Erling Haaland at the Etihad Stadium, clubs across Europe could seek a deal for the former River Plate man to lead their line from next season.

Those feelings could be quickly eradicated should Julian Alvarez and his team entertain talks over improved terms with Manchester City, and further extend his current contract – which runs until 2027.
