Tottenham manager Antonio Conte believes Manchester City are one of just two teams that can “fight” to win the Premier League title this season.

Spurs visit the Etihad Stadium on Thursday evening, with the North London club facing the Premier League champions in a rescheduled fixture.

City have an incredibly poor recent record against Tottenham, with Pep Guardiola and Antonio Conte set to do battle twice over the course of the next three Premier League gameweeks.

The Blues visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday 5th February, a stadium where Manchester City are winless.

Six points separate the two teams ahead of Thursday’s clash in East Manchester, with both City and Spurs having suffered defeats at the weekend.

City lost 2-1 to Manchester United at Old Trafford while Spurs lost 2-0 to local rivals Arsenal in the North London Derby.

The Sky Blues could move within five points of Arsenal with a win in midweek, while simultaneously hampering Spurs’ hopes of finishing in the top four.

Despite City being eight points behind the Gunners in the Premier League title race and just one point ahead of Newcastle and Manchester United, Antonio Conte believes only the current top two can “fight” for the title this season.

“They are ready to fight to win the title. Arsenal and Man City are the only two teams that are going to fight for the Premier League this season,” said the Spurs boss following Sunday’s North London Derby defeat.

Manchester City are looking to win a hat-trick of titles this season after dramatically beating Liverpool to the crown on the last day of the season in May.

Pep Guardiola is bidding to win his fifth top-flight title in England, with the Blues having won the Premier League four times in the past five years.
