There is an expectation within Manchester City that the club will break their club record transfer fee for a signing this summer, according to a new report.

The latest insight into Manchester City’s summer transfer intentions comes at a time when speculation over possible signings continues to intensify with the end of the ongoing campaign now firmly in sight.

Recent reports have seen the Premier League champions linked with a fresh interest in Bayern Munich’s German starlet Jamal Musiala, with some going as far as to suggest that the player is being viewed as a long-term successor to Kevin De Bruyne.

Elsewhere, there appears to be a retained interest from Etihad Stadium bosses to sign West Ham and Brazil star Lucas Paqueta during the summer market, should an investigation from the Football Association into gambling allegations be dropped before the end of the window.

In turn, a new report has offered fresh details into the expectation from within Etihad Stadium offices over their spend in the coming months, and the chances of Jack Grealish’s transfer record fee at Manchester City becoming history.

That is according to the information of Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X, who reports that those working within the Etihad Stadium set-up expect the club to break their record £100 million transfer fee paid to sign Jack Grealish this summer.

Interestingly, the common understanding is that West Ham’s Paqueta will have an £85 million release clause become active in June, and as such Manchester City would be unlikely to exceed such a mark in order to recruit the player.

Musiala’s price tag at Bayern Munich remains largely unknown, however there is a very real possibility that the Bundesliga giants could eye a mammoth fee should the player want to bring an end to his time in Germany.

Joao Neves of Benfica remains another player that could emerge in the thinking of Manchester City in the coming months, with the Etihad club having monitored the midfielder for some time and holding a healthy relationship with his representative Jorge Mendes.
