Eagle-eyed viewers of Manchester City’s new Netflix documentary have spotted midfielder Maximo Perrone feature in first-team training months before officially moving to the Etihad Stadium.

The 21-year-old, who is currently on a season-long loan at La Liga side UD Las Palmas, was part of the Manchester City squad to win an historic treble last season, with the club’s success documented in a new Netflix series.

The streaming service giant announced an ‘immersive’ six-part docuseries last month, with the programme launching on Netflix on Tuesday 2nd April – 10-months after Manchester City won the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and Emirates FA Cup.

‘Together: Treble Winners’ details the Sky Blues’ incredible 2022/23 campaign, and is the second time that Manchester City have featured on a global streaming network, following on from Amazon Prime’s ‘All or Nothing’ series during the 2017/18 season.

Manchester City became the first Premier League club to agree a deal with Netflix, with the platform paying a reported seven-figure sum for the six-part series.

All episodes were made available on Tuesday, and eagle-eyed viewers of episode one spotted an unexpected appearance from Maximo Perrone in first-team training, despite the midfielder not moving to the club until January 2023.

The first episode of the series covered the opening weeks of Manchester City’s campaign, showing behind-the-scenes footage of pre-season preparations, as well as games against Liverpool, West Ham, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Wolves, Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund.

Such games all took place between July and September 2022, but Perrone, who joined the club almost four-months later, was seen in first-team training at the City Football Academy, taking part in a ‘rondo’ session.

The midfielder moved to the Etihad Stadium from Velez Sarsfield on a five-and-half year deal, and made his Manchester City first-team debut against Bournemouth in late February.

Perrone was part of the squad that won the treble, and featured during the Sky Blues’ FA Cup campaign, making an appearance during a 3-0 win over Bristol City.

The Argentinian could return to Guardiola’s squad next season, following the conclusion of a loan spell in the Spanish top-flight.

Perrone has made 24 La Liga appearances so far this season with Las Palmas.
