A triple fitness and injury update on the Manchester City squad has now been issued by Sky Sports this week, following the conclusion of the international break.

It follows a troublesome two-week period for manager Pep Guardiola, who will likely have been watching developments concerning a number of his first-team stars with held breath as fitness and injury issues plagued his squad at times.

Manchester City are on the verge of starting a hectic month-long period where last season’s Treble winners will partake in matches across all three of their remaining competitions, including a straight shoot-out with Chelsea for a place in the FA Cup final.

That clash against Mauricio Pochettino’s side is accompanied by a UEFA Champions League quarter-final double-header against Real Madrid, as well as a long list of crucial Premier League meetings.

That run of English top-flight matches starts this weekend, as Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal side visit the Etihad Stadium, while Manchester City have been hit with a triple fitness update concerning their squad ahead of the resuming of training ground activities this week.

According to the information of Sky Sports, Manchester City’s captain Kyle Walker has been described as ’50/50′ over his availability for the weekend’s mammoth clash against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium, and will undergo a scan on his hamstring issue.

Elsewhere and Walker’s international teammate John Stones is reportedly subject to an assessment at the City Football Academy, after the centre-back limped out of England’s 2-2 draw with Belgium with a suspected adductor problem.

Matheus Nunes has also reportedly returned from international duties with Portugal with a knock that kept him out of his nation’s final friendly clash on Tuesday night against Slovenia, and training sessions leading up to that contest.

Throughout the international break, a number of Manchester City players have continued to work on their respective recoveries and roads towards full fitness for the weekend’s meeting at the top of the Premier League.

Jack Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne have been photographed in training as the duo continue to work towards full fitness following a reoccurring groin problem and knock respectively, while Ederson is likely to recover from a thigh injury to play some part in this weekend’s contest.

Manuel Akanji is the other player that remains subject to a fitness assessment upon his return to the City Football Academy this week, after the Swiss international defender withdrew from his nation’s final meeting of the recent break against Ireland.
