Manchester City are reportedly ‘preparing’ a summer move for Fenerbahce full-back Ferdi Kadıoğlu.

Pep Guardiola and Manchester City could make defensive additions during the summer transfer window ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, with the future of left-back Sergio Gomez currently subject to doubt.

The 23-year-old joined Pep Guardiola’s operation back in August 2022 from RSC Anderlecht but has made only four starts for Manchester City so far this season, and just 12 appearances across all competitions.

The Spain left-back has been linked with a potential Etihad Stadium exit at the end of the season and was subject to transfer interest last summer, with Vincent Kompany’s Burnley amongst the clubs interested in signing the defender.

Galatasaray were linked with the full-back in January, and should Gomez leave Manchester City this summer then the Sky Blues could look to replace the Spaniard with Turkish international Ferdi Kadıoğlu.

The 24-year-old has made 29 league appearances for Fenerbahce so far this season, with the club battling Galatasaray for the Turkish top-flight title. Kadıoğlu committed his international allegiance to Turkey in 2022, despite the left-back being born in the Netherlands.

The defender has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Manchester City, with Sport Witness relaying claims from Turkey, that Guardiola’s side are considering an approach for the left-back.

‘More developments are expected’ regarding the Blues’ pursuit of the Turkey international, with Kadıoğlu out of contract in Istanbul in 2026. Fenerbahce are further claimed to be wanting €25 million to sell the 24-year-old, who is described as ‘indispensable’ to the club.

Manchester City are expected to complete the sale of at least one full-back this summer, with Joao Cancelo set to permanently depart the Etihad Stadium following successive loan moves to Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

The Portugal international was at the centre of a rumoured training ground bust-up in January 2023, and hasn’t featured competitively for the Premier League holders since.
