Manchester City are just one win away from another appearance at Wembley Stadium as they host Newcastle United in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup this weekend.

Eddie Howe’s side are travelling to the home of the reigning Treble winners, who will be hoping to further strengthen their pursuit of an unprecedented back-to-back trophy success across multiple competitions.

Pep Guardiola and his players have been nothing short of sensational in the domestic cup competition this season, dismissing of Huddersfield Town in dominant fashion in round three thanks to a 5-0 scoreline over the Championship side.

The ending of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium curse came in round four, as a late Nathan Ake winner dismissed of Ange Postecoglou’s side, before a Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland-inspired performance in round five secured the club’s place in the last-eight.

The Norwegian striker bagged five goals to himself at Luton Town’s Kenilworth Road, with four of those strikes assisted by De Bruyne, who is likely to miss the quarter-final clash against the Magpies with a minor groin injury.

Jack Grealish could make a return to matchday duties however, with the England international having trained for Pep Guardiola and his first-team squad in their last three sessions at the City Football Academy.

Ahead of official confirmation of team news from the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening, sources on social media channels have began revealing elements of Pep Guardiola’s selection, with the first details provided by FplToni on X.

As per the information of FplToni on X, Anthony Gordon starts for Newcastle against Manchester City on Saturday evening, despite initial concerns of a serious injury sustained in the 3-2 defeat to Chelsea in Premier League action.

Additional reporting from the Manchester Evening News’ Joe Bray has also revealed that both Jack Grealish and True Grant (18) are part of Pep Guardiola’s matchday squad against Eddie Howe’s side.

The former is returning from a groin injury, while the latter is a rising academy goalkeeping talent and also the son of former Manchester United shot-stopper Lee Grant.

The first full Manchester City line-up was revealed by Bluemoon’s Ric Turner ahead of official confirmation.

Pep Guardiola and Eddie Howe are expected to confirm their respective Manchester City and Newcastle United starting line-ups from 16:30 (UK).

Now confirmed.
