Manchester City forward pre-agrees three-year contract with Tottenham
Tottenham have received a three-year contract pre-agreement from Manchester City academy forward Herbie James, according to a report.
The 16 year-old is highly-regarded within the game as a whole and within the City Football Academy system, and is likely to be seen as a major coup by one of Manchester City’s Premier League rivals.
City originally signed James as an 11 year-old from Port Vale’s academy system back in the summer of 2018, after the youngster had joined the Valiants from Congleton Rovers in December 2016.
Herbie James originally spent just two days a week at Manchester City’s academy, and upon joining the club five years ago, told the Biddulph Chronicle: “It is very exciting. I am really ready for the long, hard journey ahead.
“My whole family support Manchester City so it has been a dream to play in the academy since I started playing football. I appreciate the support of my teachers, coaches, my big brothers, my dad, and most of all, my mum for getting me to training.
“I am looking forward to playing at the 2026 World Cup.”
Now however, Herbie James looks set to find a way through the exit door at Manchester City’s academy.
That is according to the information of The Secret Scout, who report that the 16 year-old has now pre-agreed to sign a three-year professional contract with Tottenham Hotspur ahead of this summer.
Elsewhere, Manchester City’s search for the next big talents across the globe looks to have continued, as it has been reported that scouts from the Etihad Stadium have been monitoring the performances of players from Portugal, Belgium, and Argentina.
One such name, according to the information of GOAL, is that of Boca Juniors’ highly-rated full-back Valentin Barco – having been first linked to the 18 year-old in February 2022 – as Manchester City look to the transfer market for a new full-back this summer.
