Premier League champions Manchester City are continuing their hunt for the next big talents in global football, with a trio of interests recently reported.

City, alongside their parent company City Football Group, are renowned for their on-the-pulse scouting system and their ability to recruit rising talents ahead of their competitors in European football.

That drive for scouting talents has seen them secure the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Julian Alvarez from South America in recent years, as well as the likes of Romeo Lavia and Jadon Sancho from clubs closer to home.

That search continues this week, with a new report highlighting where their scouts are currently keeping a close eye on, with player monitoring ongoing in Portugal, Belgium, and Argentina.

According to the information of GOAL, Manchester City are continuing to show an interest in Boca Juniors’ highly-rated full-back Valentin Barco – having been first linked to the 18 year-old in February 2022.

It has also been highlighted that club scouts are monitoring the progress of Benfica’s rising attacking talent Diego Moreira, with the 18 year-old having registered 23 appearances across all competitions for the Portuguese giants’ youth set-up this season.

Simultaneously, City are also keeping a close eye on Club Brugge’s Norwegian prodigy Antonio Nusa, with the 17 year-old creating excitement in his homeland at the possibility of a link-up with Erling Haaland at international level in the coming years.

Manchester City as a footballing powerhouse are also continuing to keep themselves as the dream destination for player rising through the game at present, with talents often openly admitting their desire to one day reach the Etihad Stadium.

In recent days, Young Boys’ right-back talent, Lewin Blum said in an interview, “I would love to play for Manchester City one day. To a certain extent, it also corresponds to my style of play.”

SK Rapid Wien defender Emanuel Aiwu also admitted, “My favourite club is Manchester City and my favourite player is Yaya Toure – through him I became a fan. It would be a dream for me to wear this jersey one day.”

Whether or not Manchester City turn their monitoring into concrete interest for any of the aforementioned trio of talents is a completely different matter, but their pursuit of young stars is taken as seriously within the Etihad Stadium as their search for first-team superstars.
