Manchester City return to Premier League action on Wednesday evening, facing Leeds United at Elland Road.

Pep Guardiola’s side beat Liverpool in an exciting 3-2 Carabao Cup clash on Thursday night, as the Sky Blues booked their place in the competitions quarter-finals where an away trip to Southampton awaits them.

The Manchester City boss’ attention will now quickly turn to the Premier League, as the Blues hunt down current league leaders Arsenal.

City travel to Leeds and host Everton before the end of the calendar year, having suffered a surprise 2-1 home loss to Brentford before the World Cup last month.

Ruben Dias will miss Wednesday’s fixture due to injury, while it is unknown whether Kalvin Phillips will feature against his former club after Pep Guardiola revealed that the midfielder had returned to the club from international duties “overweight.”

Ahead of Wednesday’s return to league action, here is how we predict Manchester City will line-up at Elland Road.

Predicted XI

Ederson, who made just one appearance for Brazil at the Qatar World Cup, can be expected to return between the sticks having seen Stefan Ortega feature against Liverpool.

After impressive World Cup performances and the winning goal on Thursday night, one presumes Nathan Ake will be the only defender to retain his place against Leeds.

The Dutchman will line up alongside John Stones in central defence, while Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo will occupy right-back and left-back respectively.

Rodri, who played as a centre-back for Spain at the World Cup, will return to his usual central defensive midfield role at Elland Road in midweek.

Ahead of the Spaniard, Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne can both be expected to start after featuring against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup and the friendly against Girona.

Out wide, one expects to see both Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden, with the pair having come off the bench in the Carabao Cup fourth round.

Erling Haaland returned to action with a goal against Liverpool, and having netted on 18 occasions already in the Premier League, the Norwegian will be hoping to add to his goal tally at a rather familiar location.

Starting XI: Ederson; Kyle Walker, John Stones, Nathan Ake, Joao Cancelo; Rodri; Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne; Bernardo Silva, Erling Haaland, Phil Foden.

Substitutes: Stefan Ortega, Aymeric Laporte, Manuel Akanji, Sergio Gomez, Rico Lewis, Kalvin Phillips, Riyad Mahrez, Jack Grealish, Cole Palmer.
