Manchester City receive major transfer boost as Bayern Munich make decision on midfield star
Etihad Stadium bosses have received a clear indication from Bayern Munich that they could secure Joshua Kimmich this summer for the right price, according to reports.
Manchester City are likely to explore the upcoming transfer window for fresh faces and names in the midfield ranks, amid concerns over a number of positions and the possibility of a major personnel change this summer.
City officials will likely continue to search for a direct and more capable back-up to defensive midfield mainstay Rodrigo, while continued uncertainty over the future of Bernardo Silva could spark the club into life concerning the more advanced roles in the middle of the park.
One potential option for Manchester City, and a talent that former Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola knows well, is Joshua Kimmich – who continues to face contractual uncertainty over his Allianz Arena future.
City have now received what appears to be a huge boost in their hopes of signing the Germany international in the coming months, with a new report detailing the viewpoint from the side of the Bavarian club.
According to the information of Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich are ‘prepared to sell’ Joshua Kimmich this summer, if a suitable offer comes in, while the player himself is not ruling out a move and is open to discussions with potential buyers.
It is claimed that Manchester City are among the five top clubs in consideration for Joshua Kimmich this summer, alongside Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, while some of the aforementioned five clubs have reportedly already contacted the Germany international.
Three clubs have been ruled out as potential options for Kimmich, according to Plettenberg’s report, with Manchester United, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain not under consideration as a possible summer destination.
Other potential names linked with moves to Manchester City in the upcoming summer market include West Ham United and Brazil international star Lucas Paqueta, who was also tied to a reported Etihad switch last summer.
Following the emergence of an FA investigation into gambling allegations, Manchester City ultimately withdrew their interest from an £85 million deal, but could return in the coming weeks and months with the player understood to remain interested.
Kalvin Phillips is currently on loan at the London Stadium, and despite a troublesome start to life on loan under David Moyes, City may look towards the Englishman as a potential makeweight in a deal for Paqueta.
