Manchester City saw themselves placed against Bayern Munich in a repeat of the 2023 UEFA Champions League quarter-final when City Xtra simulated this week’s draw.

It was a relatively comfortable route into this season’s last-eight for the reigning champions of Europe, as Pep Guardiola and his players dismissed of Danish side FC Copenhagen across two-legs via a 6-2 aggregate scoreline.

A 1-3 win at Parken in the Danish capital, despite a first-half scare from the hosts courtesy of a Magnus Mattsson equaliser, saw City return to the Etihad Stadium and secure themselves an identical result thanks to goals from Manuel Akanji, Julian Alvarez, and Erling Haaland.

The round of 16 outcomes have lined up a mouthwatering prospect in the quarter-final stage of this season’s competition, with almost all of Europe’s premier clubs featuring in the final-eight stage of the competition.

With UEFA now opening up the draw without any country protection, Manchester City not only face the possibility of a clash against English opposition, but a direct match-up with Premier League title rivals Arsenal in the quarter-finals.

This Friday’s draw will also see UEFA plot out a direct route to the showpiece final hosted at Wembley Stadium in London in early June, with the semi-final draw also taking place this week.

Full details on the UEFA Champions League quarter-final and semi-final draw can be found below.

Ahead of this week’s highly-anticipated European draw, City Xtra took to our simulator to find out what would happen if we took on the draw proceedings. The result? A repeat of the 2023 quarter-final stage for Manchester City.
