Manchester City supporters have received a clear message from manager Pep Guardiola ahead of the return leg against Real Madrid in the Champions League next week.

Players and fans alike will be buoyed by the outcome of the club’s first-leg tie in the Spanish capital on Tuesday night having come from behind to ensure they came away with a 3-3 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid had a fightback of their own twice in the game however, taking the lead after Bernardo Silva’s opener inside two minutes and levelling the game through Federico Valverde after Phil Foden and Josko Gvardiol moved City in front.

Manchester City fans will be well aware of their impact on last season’s meeting at the Etihad Stadium, with Pep Guardiola and his players using the atmosphere to their ultimate advantage and defeating Real Madrid 4-0 en route to Istanbul.

Speaking to broadcasters after City’s dramatic 3-3 draw with Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final first-leg on Tuesday night, Pep Guardiola sent a message to home supporters ahead of next week’s second-leg tie.

“We have our people, sold out, we need all of them, all their energy during 95 minutes to try to beat the king of this competition,” Guardiola stated. “With our people in Manchester, we’ll go for it, the people will be there.”

Before then however, Manchester City will return to Premier League duties with a meeting against Luton Town and a clear opportunity to maintain the pressure on their title rivals Arsenal and Liverpool.

City are currently in third position in the league table and are separated by just one point from their title challengers, as Pep Guardiola and his players look to claim a record fourth successive Premier League crown.
