Ilkay Gundogan has become the latest European footballer to be offered a huge deal to move to Saudi Arabia this summer.

The 32 year-old is out of contract at the Etihad Stadium at the end of the current campaign and is yet to agree a new deal with Manchester City, amid interest from Barcelona and Arsenal in signing the midfielder on a free transfer.

Gundogan, who was Pep Guardiola’s first signing at Manchester City in 2016, could play his final game for the club this Saturday, when the Blues face Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League Final.

City travel to Istanbul looking to complete the treble and lift the European trophy for the first time in the club’s history, with Gundogan looking to win the Champions League at the third attempt, after previous final defeats with Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City.

The midfielder scored a brace at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, as two sublime goals from the German international helped Manchester City to a 2-1 win over rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup Final.

Gundogan also scored crucial goals against Everton and Leeds United during the recent Premier League title race, as City were crowned champions of England for the fifth time in six years.

Recent reports had suggested that the 32 year-old was set to sign a new contract with Manchester City, despite continued links to Barcelona in Spain.

However, Gundogan’s agent refuted claims of a new deal at the Etihad Stadium being imminent on Monday, telling Fabrizio Romano: “The recent reports are NOT true. Ilkay is only focused on the final. Nothing has been agreed with City or any other club.”

CBS report that Gundogan is the latest star to be subject to a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia, throwing a potential spanner into the works, as the German considers his next steps.

Gundogan has reportedly been offered a huge €200 million contract to move to the Middle East, after a delegation from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) travelled to London in an attempt to sign the Manchester City captain.

Both Ilkay Gundogan and Chelsea’s N’golo Kante were offered two-year contracts by the Saudi Arabia PIF, who earlier this week took control of four clubs in the country.

Cristiano Ronaldo moved to the Saudi Arabia league earlier this year, while both Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema are widely rumoured to be considering offers to move to the Middle East on free transfers.

Both Messi and Benzema recently announced departures from their current clubs, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
