Manchester City midfielder Shea Charles is an emerging transfer target for Everton this summer, as Sean Dyche looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the next campaign.

The teenager made his senior and Premier League debut for Manchester City against Brentford on Sunday afternoon, replacing defender Nathan Ake, as Pep Guardiola’s squad concluded their league campaign with an underwhelming defeat.

Charles came on just past the hour mark in West London, with Ethan Pinnock’s late goal giving Brentford a 1-0 victory over the Premier League champions.

Sunday’s defeat was the Blues’ first since February, bringing an abrupt end to Manchester City’s 25-match winning streak across all competitions.

Charles was named amongst a youthful substitutes bench by Guardiola, with several first-team players absent from the matchday squad, ahead of upcoming crunch clashes against Manchester United and Inter Milan over the next two weeks.

The 19 year-old had been apart of Brian Barry-Murphy’s Premier League 2 title winning squad during the campaign, making 26 appearances in the competition for the Manchester City EDS.

The Northern Ireland international also made seven appearances in the UEFA Youth League, and has been unused substitute in both the Premier League and Champions League for Manchester City this season.

Charles has been with City since U9s level and has progressed through the Manchester City academy.

The teenager is now reportedly subject to transfer interest from Premier League side Everton, with the Toffees “keen” on the 19 year-old midfielder.

Everton ensured their Premier League status with a 1-0 win at Goodison Park over Bournemouth on the final day of the season, surviving relegation for the second successive season.

Sean Dyche is now preparing to make significant changes to his squad prior to the 2023/24 campaign, and Manchester City’s Shea Charles could be part of his plans.

Simon Jones reports that Charles is one of several targets for the Merseyside club, although the teenager also has admirers in the Bundesliga, at both Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.

The futures of several young Manchester City players are up in air, with James McAtee and Tommy Doyle both returning from successful loan spells with Sheffield United in the Sky Bet Championship.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis, who helped Vincent Kompany’s Burnley to promotion, is also reportedly wanted by Newcastle United.
