Manchester City look set for Tokyo this summer as part of their pre-season tour of Asia ahead of the 2023/2024 campaign, according to a new report.

In a glossy announcement across their social media channels earlier this month, Manchester City confirmed that their preparations for the upcoming new season would take place in Asia, with a showpiece tie against Atletico Madrid confirmed.

Pep Guardiola and his players are currently set to take on Diego Simeone’s La Liga giants at the World Cup Stadium in Seoul, South Korea on Sunday 30th July – one of three fixtures scheduled to take place over the closed season period.

Now, as part of a new report this week, Manchester City’s second pre-season opponents have been hinted with a source in Germany pointing towards a clash against very familiar opponents in Japan.

According to journalist Patrick Strasser, Manchester City will take on Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in a pre-season friendly in Tokyo this summer.

The two sides have only recently concluded a thrilling meeting in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, with the Premier League side coming out on top across two-legs courtesy of a dominant 4-1 scoreline.

A sensational performance in the first-leg from Pep Guardiola’s players saw the treble-chasing side take a 3-0 advantage over to the Allianz Arena in Munich, before a 1-1 draw in Germany booked City’s spot in the last-four of Europe’s premier club competition.

Manchester City are now set to take on Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League next month, battling it for a place in the Istanbul final where one of Milan’s two iconic clubs will await them in mid-June.
