Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has sent a personal message to Manchester United supporters ahead of the ongoing season finale.

Victory at the weekend for Manchester City meant their hopes of winning an impressive treble of trophies this season remain very much alive, having reached the 2023 Emirates FA Cup final following the conclusion of the Premier League campaign.

A hat-trick from Riyad Mahrez meant City dispatched of the challenge of high-flying Championship outfit Sheffield United under the Wembley arch, booking their spot in a final where they will take on city rivals Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag’s men secured their place via a penalty shoot-out victory over Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton & Hove Albion 24 hours later, setting up the first Manchester derby final at Wembley Stadium on June 3rd.

Speaking after City’s 3-0 win over Sheffield United on Saturday evening, Pep Guardiola was made aware of the fact that some Manchester United supporters were becoming ‘scared’ of the prospect of City winning a treble this season

Guardiola responded with a personal message to the Old Trafford faithful, as he said, “They don’t have to be scared, we are neighbours. Neighbours are always nice to each other.”

Elsewhere, Manchester City maintain their pursuit of a third successive Premier League title, and a fifth crown under Pep Guardiola, this season as they go head-to-head with Arsenal at the top of the division.

Manchester City and Arsenal face off on Wednesday night in a mammoth Premier League clash that could have huge implications on the direction of the top-flight crown this season, with a win for Pep Guardiola’s players moving them to within two points of their competitors with two games in hand.

City have also booked their spot in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, where Real Madrid await over a two-legged affair scheduled to take place in May.
