Club record eight Manchester City players nominated for EA Sports Team of the Year
Manchester City have set a new club record after eight members of their first-team squad were nominated for the EA Sports Team of the Year.
It has been another hugely successful year for the reigning Premier League champions, after Pep Guardiola’s side recorded their fourth English top-flight title win in the last five seasons last May.
A dramatic final day of action at the Etihad Stadium saw Manchester City come from 0-2 behind against Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa to win 3-2, and pip bitter rivals Liverpool to the Premier League crown by a single point.
Their success last campaign, as well as a bright start to the ongoing season that continues to see them fight on all four fronts, has been recognised by EA Sports, who this week have confirmed the list of nominees for their annual Team of the Year.
As confirmed by Manchester City and EA Sports this week, the following players have all been nominated for the EA Sports Team of the Year:
- Bernardo Silva
- Kevin De Bruyne
- Ederson
- Phil Foden
- Erling Haaland
- Joao Cancelo
- Rodri
- Ruben Dias
Manchester City are expected by many to have an even more successful 2023, as the Premier League champions not only look to retain their English crown, but also secure their first ever Champions League title.
Europe’s premier club competition remains as the only trophy City have failed to win since their takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008, as RB Leipzig are their next opponents to stand in their way in the last-16 of this year’s competition.
