Manchester City are emerging as front-runners to sign RB Leipzig and Spain star Dani Olmo this summer.

Pep Guardiola’s side are widely expected to add to their midfield this summer, with the potential departure of Bernardo Silva at the end of the season forcing Manchester City into the market for a new versatile midfielder, who can occupy both central and wide positions.

RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo has been mooted as a player who could fulfil the Sky Blues’ profile, with Manchester City eying another summer addition from the Bundesliga to the Etihad Stadium.

Ilkay Gundogan, Erling Haaland, Stefan Ortega, Manuel Akanji and Josko Gvardiol all swapped the German top-flight for Manchester City, with the latter signing from RB Leipzig in a £77.6 million transfer last summer.

Manchester City and RB Leipzig could complete further major business this summer, with Olmo having a €60 million release clause, which has drawn interest from a host of Premier League clubs.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham have all been linked with the 25-year-old, despite the Spaniard having signed a new contract with RB Leipzig until 2027 last June.

Olmo, who has been directly involved in nine Bundesliga goals in 18 appearances this season, reportedly favours a move to the Etihad Stadium, with the finances additionally ruling out a transfer to La Liga heavyweights Barcelona.

Sport Witness relay claims by Mundo Deportivo, revealing that Manchester City are ‘well positioned’ to sign the midfielder this summer, and that Etihad officials have held recent talks with the agent of the Spain international.

Representatives of the 25-year-old met with Manchester City ‘last week’ according to the report, which also details a meeting between Barcelona officials and Olmo’s agent.

Olmo is one of five midfielder’s to be have been linked with a move to the Premier League leaders this summer, with Bayern Munich pair Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich having also been subject to interest.

Brazilian duo Lucas Paqueta and Bruno Guimaraes have also emerged as midfield targets, but could demand sizeable transfer fees from West Ham and Newcastle respectively.
