Premier League champions Manchester City are reportedly holding an ‘advanced’ interest in Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala ahead of a ‘big push’ for the player.

Etihad Stadium bosses are likely to be in the market for a number of midfield recruits during the upcoming summer transfer window, as uncertainty surrounding multiple first-team names continues deeper into the ongoing season.

Bernardo Silva continues to emanate uncertainty over his future having eyed an exit from Manchester City for the last number of seasons, and a release clause installed into a contract extension last summer – understood to be worth £50 million – is unlikely to stop such talks.

Kevin De Bruyne was also firm in his intention to reject approaches from Saudi Arabia last summer, however Manchester City are taking no chances ahead of the coming months as they build contingency plans in case the Belgian has a change of heart over his own future.

As such, Etihad Stadium transfer bosses have turned their attention towards the Bundesliga, and a name they feel could have a huge impact on Pep Guardiola’s side and Manchester City’s midfield for several years to come.

That is according to the information of The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg, who reports that Manchester City are planning a ‘big push’ to sign Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala this summer, with Pep Guardiola wanting more options in attacking midfield.

In turn, it is reported that the 21-year-old talent is emerging as Guardiola’s top target ahead of the summer transfer window, and while Manchester City’s interest is also ‘advanced’, his former club Chelsea are said to be ‘monitoring the situation’.

Unfortunately for Chelsea supporters wanting to get their hopes up at this early stage, The Guardian reaffirm that Manchester City are ‘at the front of the queue’ for the Bayern Munich talent who has excelled since moving to the Allianz Arena.

Elsewhere, and Manchester City could yet reopen their interest in West Ham and Brazil midfielder Lucas Paqueta, should the 26-year-old see his Football Association investigation in gambling allegations dropped before the end of the summer transfer window.

City were keen on finalising a deal for the player last summer, but were forced to turn attentions elsewhere following the emergence of the investigation, and ultimately secured the services of Matheus Nunes from Wolves.

Other names Manchester City were tipped to explore this summer included Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, however Xabi Alonso’s talented attacking midfielder is expected to remain with the newly-crowned Bundesliga champions.
