A new claim from Spanish media has suggested that five of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City squad could form an exodus from the Etihad Stadium this summer.

It is the latest in a flurry of transfer stories being constructed around the Premier League champions as a busy summer window rapidly approaches, with Manchester City expected to be one of the busier sides.

Following a season that could yet see Manchester City retain a domestic double, despite their early exit from the UEFA Champions League, club officials will no doubt be wanting to refresh and strengthen Pep Guardiola’s options to ensure they continue to challenge next season.

As such, while new arrivals are expected into the City Football Academy squad, a number of exits could yet take place, with one report going as far as to suggest that up to five names are vulnerable in the coming weeks and months.

That is according to the information of Spanish media outlet Nacional, who report that five first-team stars are ‘keen to leave’, with Jack Grealish sensationally claimed to be ‘topping the list’ as a host of Premier League clubs queue with desperation to sign the Englishman.

Perhaps on a much more unsurprising note, Kalvin Phillips is another name set to depart the Etihad Stadium, with the report suggesting that Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen and title challengers Bayern Munich are among the 28-year-old’s potential destinations.

Bernardo Silva is once again claimed to be considering his Manchester City future amid interest from Barcelona and PSG, while Kevin De Bruyne has been linked with a Saudi Arabian move with his current Etihad deal expiring in 2025.

Finally, Manchester City’s highly-rated back-up choice goalkeeper Stefan Ortega Moreno could look for new opportunities away from the Etihad Stadium as he eyes more frequent game time at the top of the European game.

There is a belief in various quarters that four of the five aforementioned names do in fact have a chance to leave the club in the coming months, however the chances of Jack Grealish making a way out of the team is hugely unlikely.

The England international forward remains integral to Pep Guardiola’s plans in an attacking sense, and there is a belief within the first-team circle that the 28-year-old has abilities on the ball that no other Manchester City player has.

The arrival of Jeremy Doku from Stade Rennais last summer raised question marks over Grealish’s place in the squad, however the two players have been able to compliment one another strongly at various points of the season and in different matches.
