Manchester City target £60 million swoop for Premier League winger amid Manchester United interest
Officials from the Etihad Stadium are looking to beat rivals Manchester United to the signing of Crystal Palace and France star Michael Olise, according to reports.
The latest information comes fresh off the back of a quiet January transfer market for Manchester City, who often turn away from the winter market due to a lack of worthy opportunities in such a short space of time.
As such, many of City’s efforts are placed on the summer transfer window – a period when the club have a longer opportunity to assess potential recruits and negotiate a best possible deal for all parties involved in talks.
Those attentions have now seemingly drawn Manchester City towards Crystal Palace, and one of the Selhurst Park club’s highest-valued possessions, with Etihad Stadium bosses looking to strengthen their forward line further.
That is according to the information of journalist Alan Nixon, who reports that the Premier League champions want to beat their bitter rivals Manchester United to the signing of Crystal Palace star Michael Olise in the coming months.
It is reported that Manchester City see the 22-year-old as a ‘major capture’ for the upcoming summer transfer window, and are lining up a ‘huge offer’ to add him to Pep Guardiola’s Etihad Stadium squad.
Despite interest from Old Trafford, it is stated that City hope the chance to join Pep Guardiola’s squad will tempt Michael Olise. But just how much could the Premier League champions outlay for the player?
Nixon reports that Manchester City will throw in excess of £60 million at the forward, and while Olise will only move this summer if he thinks he gets game time, that is likely to be on offer as Pep Guardiola only plans ‘minor changes’ for his group, according to the report.
Olise may not be the only wide forward at the centre of interest from Manchester City in the summer market however, with last season’s Treble winners simultaneously linked with a move for a name closer to the City Football Group.
Teenage Brazilian talent Savio – currently on loan at Girona from Troyes – is also a name being assessed over a potential rise to the Etihad Stadium first-team squad, and a deal would likely not be difficult to arrange due to the link between the French side and City Group.
Elsewhere, Manchester City could also look towards potential signings in midfield ranks amid growing doubts over the futures of Bernardo Silva and Kalvin Phillips, while full-back roles could also be analysed by Txiki Begiristain and his colleagues.
