Manchester City host Burnley in the Premier League on Wednesday night, in their final game of January ahead of a significantly more hectic February schedule.

Pep Guardiola and his players will be hoping to retain their 100 per cent start to the new calendar year and maintain the intense pressure on Liverpool and Arsenal in the race for another Premier League crown.

Manchester City come into the clash with Burnley fresh off the back of a significant victory over Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur on Friday night, with Nathan Ake’s 88th minute winner in North London booking a place in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

City’s last clash in Premier League action came prior to the recent winter break and the club’s warm weather camp in Abu Dhabi, as a comeback victory over Newcastle United also saw the full capabilities of Kevin De Bruyne with the Belgian’s assist and goal in the final 20 minutes.

On a fitness and injury front, Guardiola and his coaching staff have been boosted by having a full squad at their disposal following a challenging campaign so far on the treatment table after the return of Manuel Akanji to training this week.

Erling Haaland is now also pain free having battled with a bone injury in his foot for two months, while John Stones, Jeremy Doku, and Kevin De Bruyne are all understood to be back up to full fitness following their respective problems.

Ahead of kick-off at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night, both Pep Guardiola and Vincent Kompany have now confirmed their respective starting line-ups.
