Inside the Manchester City dressing room at Newcastle as wholesome team gesture made for star man
The superb scenes in side the Manchester City dressing room after Oscar Bobb’s last-gasp winner at St. James’s Park last weekend have been revealed.
Manchester City rounded off their Premier League play in the month of January with a superb 3-2 comeback victory away to Newcastle United, moving to within two points of league leaders Liverpool.
Finding themselves 1-2 down past the hour-mark, City talisman Kevin De Bruyne made his return to Premier League action, and made an immediate impact as well. The Belgian scored the equaliser and assisted a stoppage-time winner to deliver the Blues three points.
That late winner however, was coolly finished by Oscar Bobb in the face of the onrushing goalkeeper, showing just what Pep Guardiola has in the talented young winger.
It is rare that City youngsters so new to the first team have received such important playing-time from the Catalan manager.
While the Manchester City fans tucked way in the upper-reaches of St. James’s Park stayed around to sing Bobb’s name as the team celebrated on the pitch, it was the atmosphere in the City dressing room after the match that has made headlines.
According to Tyrone Marshall for the Manchester Evening News, the City players were also singing Oscar Bobb’s name as the Norwegian made his way into the dressing room, serenading their match winner on the day.
Bobb is slowly becoming a more integral part of this City side, and while his winning-goal against Newcastle is the biggest impact he has made yet, the winger also played a key role in the side’s second goal agains Sheffield United in the Premier League in December.
The Etihad outfit will now jet off to Abu Dhabi where they will take part in some warm weather training ahead of an FA Cup fourth round showdown with Tottenham Hotspur in just under two-week’s time.
The return to action will kick-off another busy period for the Blues as they head into the month of February with six games on the calendar already.
