Ruben Dias hails unique ability of standout Manchester City teammate
Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has hailed the unique talents of Rodri, and highlighted his impact to the club’s recent success.
The centre-back, who moved to the Etihad Stadium one year after midfielder Rodri, has also proved vital to Manchester City’s recent successes, with the Portugal defender having won three Premier League titles.
Both players made over 40 appearances during City’s treble-winning campaign last season, as the club won the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and Emirates FA Cup.
Dias and Rodri have both missed key matches for Manchester City this season, with Guardiola’s side currently trailing league leaders Liverpool by five points in the Premier League title race.
City are bidding to win a record-breaking fourth successive league title, and despite dropping points on seven occasions already this season, remain strongly in contention to lift the trophy.
Dias and Rodri will likely play an integral role in any Manchester City success, and speaking in a recent interview, the 26-year-old has hailed the talents of the Spain midfielder.
“In terms of Rodri, there are a lot of beautiful words I could say and they would come very easily,” said Dias.
“He’s one of the best in his position. Normal number sixes are usually either good with the ball at their feet and not so good defensively or the opposite way around; he has got both attributes.
“He is one of those players that whenever tough times come, he stands up and stands out. He’s there for you.
“When times get rough, I know he will be by my side. He makes the difficult look easy. You know when it matters he will be there.
“You don’t really know players until you have seen them when the team is in a tough moment. That’s when good players are made. I was forged like that. You can’t shut your eyes for a moment.”
