“Delighted” – Manchester City’s newest midfield signing confirms deal on Instagram

| Last Updated:

Manchester City’s latest recruit of one of England’s finest young talents has this week been confirmed via the player’s official Instagram account.

City’s latest signing comes during a January transfer window that is widely expected to be relatively quiet when it comes to first-team activities, whilst the focus elsewhere in the football club remains on strengthening the ranks for years to come.

Alongside Manchester City’s hunt for talent in England, City Football Academy bosses have also been assessing the South American market, as a deal for River Plate and Argentina under-17 captain Claudio Echeverri moves ever closer to completion.

However, the 17-year-old prodigy has been beaten to an Etihad Stadium contract by Leeds United talent Finley Gorman, who has this week made official his negotiation with the Treble winners to join the club.

As confirmed via a post on Gorman’s official Instagram account, the 15-year-old playmaker has officially signed his new agreement with Premier League champions Manchester City, bringing an end to his time at Elland Road.

Writing to confirm the deal over the weekend, the highly-rated teenager stated, “Delighted to have signed for Manchester City. Can’t wait to get started!”

Complimenting the confirmed news and offering his own insight into Manchester City’s chase of the in-demand player, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano revealed that the midfielder had turned down ‘many bids’ in order to accept the Etihad Stadium deal.

At present, it remains somewhat unknown as to what Manchester City’s plans are for the player, however it is expected that he will join up with the club’s academy ranks before being assessed over a potential place in Pep Guardiola’s first-team training sessions in the coming years.

Loan deals for Manchester City’s young talents are common place, however since Finley Gorman is only 15, a move into senior level football can be regarded as being someway off for the time being.
