Manchester City offer €100 million for RB Leipzig defender

Manchester City are reportedly one of three clubs to have drawn up an offer for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol.
The 20 year-old is expected to be subject to transfer interest in the summer, with Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea among the suitors for the RB Leipzig centre-back.
Gvardiol, who has helped Croatia reach a second successive World Cup semi-final, is set to come up against the Sky Blues in the New Year.
Manchester City face RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages, with Pep Guardiola’s side travelling to the Red Bull Arena for the first-leg on Wednesday 22nd February.
The Croatian centre-back joined the Bundesliga club in 2021 and has made 19 appearances for RB Leipzig so far this season.
City currently have five central defenders, with Nathan Ake having been heavily linked with a possible return to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
The Sky Blues have reportedly made a €100 million plus bonuses first offer for the defender, according to Santi Aouna and Sebastien Denis of Foot Mercato.
City’s offer is claimed to currently be the highest, with Chelsea having offered €90 million and United €95 million.
Despite reported interest from Bayern Munich, the 20 year-old is also said to prefer a move to the Premier League.
Manchester City are expected to enter the transfer market next summer, with a midfielder and left-back having been mooted.
City made a Deadline Day move for Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji in September after a string of defensive injuries.
The Swiss centre-back has made an impressive start to life in Manchester, making 12 appearances across the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and Carabao Cup.
