Full Squad List: Two absent as 27 Man City players train ahead of Urawa Red Diamonds Club World Cup clash
Manchester City have finalised their preparations for the semi-finals of the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday evening, as they trained in Jeddah this week.
City make their debut at the globally-recognised competition by taking on Japanese club Urawa Red Diamonds in the semi-final this week, having qualified for the final-four through success in the UEFA Champions League last season.
It is the second of two competitions awarded to the Premier League champions and Treble winners last season following their European success, having dismissed of Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup in Athens, Greece back in August.
The prize for the winners in Tuesday evening’s contest will be a place in the showpiece final in Jeddah, with either Fluminense or Al Ahly set to be their opponents, as those two sides go head to head on Monday night.
While Manchester City made the trip to the Middle-East on Sunday night with a number of fitness concerns hanging over the squad, Monday evening’s training session presented updates on several key names.
Here is a complete list of players spotted in Jeddah on Monday evening!
27-man Manchester City training squad ahead of Urawa Red Diamonds
Goalkeepers: Ederson, Stefan Ortega Moreno, Scott Carson
Defenders: Kyle Walker, Rico Lewis, Max Alleyne, John Stones, Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, Josko Gvardiol, Nathan Ake, Sergio Gomez
Midfielders: Kalvin Phillips, Rodri, Mahamadou Susoho, Jacob Wright, Matheus Nunes, Mateo Kovacic, Bernardo Silva, Oscar Bobb, Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Micah Hamilton
Forwards: Joel Ndala, Justin Oboavwoduo, Julian Alvarez
Kevin De Bruyne made a somewhat surprising return to on-field training alongside the rest of his Manchester City teammates this week, however it remains highly unlikely that Pep Guardiola will grant the Belgian any competitive minutes in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Two absentees remaining for the Catalan coach are Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku, both of whom played no part in Tuesday evening’s training session, and as such are unlikely to be involved in any capacity against their Japanese opponents this week.
