Manchester City FPL injury update: Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku, Ederson and Jack Grealish latest ahead of GW17 deadline
Pep Guardiola has provided a major fitness update on Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, ahead of the Fantasy Premier League deadline.
Manchester City play their final Premier League game until after Christmas this weekend, facing Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium ahead of travelling to Saudi Arabia for the FIFA Club World Cup.
Pep Guardiola’s side returned to winnings ways with a 2-1 win over Luton Town last weekend, after an unexpected winless run of four games threatened their latest Premier League title defence.
Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku both missed Manchester City’s victory at Kenilworth Road, with the Blues having the chance to further decrease the gap between themselves and Liverpool with a victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester City could move to within one point of the Merseyside club, ahead of their meeting with Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.
Haaland missed a Premier League game for Manchester City for the first time this season last weekend, meanwhile Doku has been absent since a 3-3 draw with Tottenham at the start of the month.
The pair, who have scored a combined 22 goals this season, have accumulated a total of 161 Fantasy Premier League points so far this season.
Only two players have earned more points than Haaland, however the 23-year-old looks set to miss Saturday’s meeting with Palace, after Pep Guardiola addressed the media at the City Football Academy ahead of the game.
“I don’t think so, maybe he surprises me,” responded Guardiola when asked about the striker’s availability.
Doku could also miss Saturday’s meeting with the Eagles, as the Belgium international continues to recover from a muscular injury.
Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson is in contention to feature though, after missing Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League win in Belgrade due to illness.
Jack Grealish was forced off against Crvena zvezda at half-time in midweek, but the Englishman is expected to still be available this weekend.
Kevin De Bruyne is also set to remain sidelined, although the midfielder is expected to be with the Manchester City squad in Saudi Arabia for the upcoming Club World Cup, with the Blues playing their first fixture of the tournament on Tuesday.
