Pep Guardiola makes cautious prediction of Man City title hopes
Pep Guardiola has cautiously backed Manchester City to chase down the Premier League leaders and win a fourth straight title.
The City boss is no stranger to his side overcoming deficits on their way towards a Premier League triumph. Only in the 2017/18 campaign did the Blues storm out of the blocks and run away with the trophy before any competitors could throw their hats in the ring.
And in the current campaign, it appears City will have to show that resiliency once again if they are to win a staggering fourth Premier League title in a row. Guardiola’s side currently sit in fourth, four points off the summit after failing to win in four of their last five games.
But speaking in a recent press conference, Pep Guardiola revealed his cautious optimism in his side’s ability to remain in touching distance with the top. “I’m able,” he said. I have a lot of trust in myself, I’m sorry. I will help the team”
“I don’t know how, but I will help the team to come back in our position and the team, absolutely (they have the ability).
“Will it be enough? I don’t know, because the contenders are so strong. The consistency of Arsenal over two years has been amazing.
“Liverpool is back, I knew it from day one, for many reasons, the character is still there because being with Jurgen (Klopp), always is happens. Look, all the other teams.”
“We saw the quality, every team has. That’s why we have to be ready, and you have to have the feeling – I want that from my team.”
After 16 games of the 2022/23 season, City found themselves seven points behind league leaders Arsenal, but managed to catch the Gunners and win the Premier League title with games to spare.
With just a four point gap to the top for the Blues after the same number of games this season, they will have to like their hopes of another impressive turnaround.
